Gluten Free Waffles with Banana and Orange Juice...Mouth Watering... crispy and yummy...
I was working on a new breakfast menu for Bliss and simply could not resist making waffles... I got Graeme to bring the ingredients from the cafe and in the meantime worked on a gluten free recipe. This is what I came up with and it worked with the first attempt.
Now I am sharing it with you so you can make them at home for yourself and your loved ones. You will not be disappointed!
So, this is what you will need:
- 2 cups gluten free flour
- 2 cups soy milk
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 1 ripe banana
- 1/3 cup coconut palm sugar
- 1 TB oil (coconut or cooking)
- a few drops or pinches of vanilla (extract or powder)
- water to liquify to make the batter runny if needed
- oil or butter to grease the waffle maker
Equipment:
- measure cup
- teaspoon/tablespoon
- blender or a bowl and spatula
- waffle maker
Guidance:
- Heat up your waffle maker.
- Blend all ingredients in the Vitamix or other blender you have got until nice smooth texture.
- Grease the waffle maker.
- Pour the batter onto the waffle maker evenly to cover the whole surface.
- Wait until either the waffle gets brown or the (green) light comes on.
- Garnish with your favourite toppings.
Tips:
- taste the butter before putting in the waffle maker so you know whether it needs adjusting in sweetness or not
- add fruit to the batter, either by blending or just chopped pieces of fruit
- savoury waffles - put salt instead of sugar
- add cocoa powder or carob powder for your chocolate waffles.
